COURSES

Most of the work crafted by Immy involves wood-turning. This is an ancient process known to be used by the Romans through medieval times, and is thriving across the world today. If you would like to try it for yourself, Immy offers half-day courses that will give you a good introduction to this craft. These are based on the two ways in which wood can be held on the lathe for turning. “Spindle turning” – where the aim is for you to make your own wooden pen - and “faceplate turning” - where the aim is for you to make a wooden bowl. These are offered to a maximum class size of 4 and inevitably end with big smiles. Immy has taught wood-turning in a school to help GCSE and A level students make their course projects – but for the under 18’s supervision has to be on a 1-2-1 basis, please ask for details.
